Classroom Birthday Celebration Procedures:
▪A Peaceful Panda can celebrate their birthday at school by:
▪Bringing one item from home for Show & Tell
▪Student will receive a Birthday crown, certificate, sticker and bracelet
▪Student will fill out the Birthday board w/ teachers to share w/the class
▪Receiving well wishes from their school family
▪If you do not wish for your child to participate
in the birthday celebrations, please e-mail us.
▪Due to allergies and other dietary considerations, we will not serve birthday
treats for the celebrations. This is a school wide policy.
For Parties outside of school: Check the SASC class directory for names and info. To pass out invites in class: The whole class would have to be invited in order for the teachers to pass out invitations. Thanks.

That will give students almost 2 weeks to practice these words in their small reading groups and at home before taking a spelling test on Thursday, November 10th. We will do these practice spelling words every couple of weeks for first grade only. You can use the, What's on the Menu, sheet as a guide for activities to do using the spelling/sight words or come up with your own way to practice the words.

- The kindergarteners began Topic 13 on 3D shapes this week. They will finish it up next week and test on it towards the end of the week.
- The first graders are working on Topic 10 in math. Students will be testing next week.
- In Theme students continued working on their last Social Studies theme unit on Economics. They learned about wants vs. needs.
- In small group writing students continued working on How to Books.
- Reminders:
- Please have your scholar bring in a refillable water bottle each day.
- Label student's belongings
- Email us when your child will be absent from school
- Return blue folders to the classroom every Friday at the latest. Keep your child's completed work at home.
- Return your child's completed homework by the following Friday of each week.
- Please have your scholar leave toys, stuffed animals and fidgets at home-This is a schoolwide policy

- The kindergarteners began Topic 3 in math this week. They also did a fall math activity for their portfolios.
- The first graders finished Topic 13-shapes in math this week. They took their test on Topic 13 and also took their end of quarter 1 m-comp assessment (addition and subtraction problems-8 minutes timed).
- We finished up our end of quarter 1 individual student assessments this week. We will be discussing some of the results during conferences.
- Parent/teacher conferences will be the weeks of October 17-28. A sign-up genius with conference slots has been emailed out.

- The kindergarteners began Topic 1 in math this week. They were so excited to start math and have been so attentive to their lessons! We love their enthusiasm!
- The first graders took their first M-Comp 8 minute timed test. They try to solve as many addition and subtraction problems in 8 minutes that they can. They will take this test once a month and it's amazing to see how much growth occurs in a year!
- The first graders also started Topic 13 in math this week.
- We started book buddies this week with a 2nd/3rd grade class. Our students will pair up with a student from 2/3 and they will read to our students. We will have book buddies on most Friday afternoons.
- In Theme students began the social studies unit on Civics/Government. Students are currently learning about their community.
